Symptoms include loss of power, black or blue exhaust smoke, whistling noises, or oil leaking into the turbo or exhaust.
A noticeable drop in performance, smoke, or unusual noises often indicate a fault. If in doubt, have the turbo inspected by a specialist.
Use high-quality oil, change it on time, and let the engine idle briefly after intensive use before shutting it off. This prevents the turbo from overheating.
